Interesting Facts about Hino cars
Hino was found as the Tokyo Gas Company in 1910 in Tokyo which makes it one of the oldest companies in Japan. When the Tokyo Gas Company later metamorphosed into Isuzu Diesel Motors, Hino simply spun off from the parent company in 1942 to form its own commercial vehicle production department. Hino added Diesel to its name but following the Second World War it had to stop manufacturing heavy duty diesel engines for the marine forces and hence it dropped the Diesel out of its name. Very shortly afterwards it was acquired by Toyota and even started building cars under licence from Renault and later released its only iconic brand called Contessa.
