The very first variant from the Pulsar had a 150cc engine with a single cylinder four-stroke engine which offers maximum 13HP power with a torque of 12.76NM. The 180cc variant could make maximum 15HP power. In 2003, the second generation Pulsar was introduced with DTS-i engine technology. During 2007, Bajaj started to sell Pulsar 220 DTS-Fi and Pulsar 200 DTS-i variants with oil cooled engines, digital dashboard, and modern styles. In 2012, Bajaj introduced the latest design in their Pulsar series. The New Pulsar 200 Naked Sport (NS) has a liquid cooled engine that can produce 23.17 bhp and torque is 18.3 Nm. Bajaj claimed The Pulsar RS 200 has a top speed is 141 km/hr.

Since its introduction, Pulsar has an aggressive design and sporty look. The latest variant includes an aggressive wolf eyed headlamp with smooth suspension and 17 inches alloy wheel.
