Hero Honda launched its first ever high performance motorcycle called CBZ in the market. It was launched in 1999 and proved that, Indian Motorcycle market had a demand for high configuration bikes. It was a scaled version of the Japanese Motorcycle producer Honda CB Series. Originally it had an engine capacity of 156.8cc. After the success Hero Honda made the first change in 2004 and brought a new variant of this bike called CBZ* (star). The new variants had all the same features except the new graphics to enhance the sales. The only feature that was new in the latest model was CV type carburetor.

Hero Honda CBZ was discontinued from the production in 2005 and the company brought new model called Hero Honda CBZ-Xtreme with 150cc engine capacity. In Bangladesh, CBZ has strong appeal to the bike lovers. As Hero Honda has another model like Hunk which has the same category of engine, so people always get confused between these two models. Due to many special features and body design CBZ gets popularity in Bangladesh.

The first generation CBZ has 156.8cc engine with 5-speed gearbox. The four-stroke, single-cylinder engine could produce maximum power of 12.8 bhp at 8000 rpm and 12.7 Nm maximum torque could be gained at 6500 rpm. The fuel tank had a capacity of 12.5 liters. The top speed of the bike was 113 km/h. The bike had single disc front brake and drum brake in rear.

The last CBZ variant had an air-cooled engine with the capacity of 149.2cc. The bike could be achieved a maximum power of 14.2 bhp at 8500 rpm. The top torque could be gained 12.8 Nm at 6500 rpm. The bike was equipped with 5-speed gear box and 12.3 liters capacity fuel tank. Top speed of the bike was 115 km/h and mileage was satisfactory. The combined mileage that the bike could give was 57km/l. This category of bikes had 240mm disc brake at front wheel and 130mm internal expanding shoe type brake in the rear wheel. This bike had a color option of Yellow, orange and black.

The Hero Honda CBZ had an aggressive and sporty look. The first generation bikes had kick start option with analogue speedometer. The second generation models had alloy wheels and dashboard was also analogue type. The tail lamp and indicator lamps were very attractive. The indicator lights were not separated rather than attached to the body which made the bike more stylish. The fuel tank had an extra part which also gave this model a sporty look.
